Vicky and Mike got the opportunity to have full photographic coverage of their passage from engagement to marriage. This is a feature of many of my packages in which extra hours can used to document more than just the day of, but the whole journey. I'm a story teller, and I believe that a wedding is more than just a walk down the aisle, an exchange of vows, followed by a fun party. It's a journey and a process that should be captured so that this story can be told in it's entirety for the generations that follow.
As with many of my couples, it all started with an engagement...
Vicky's soon to be (at the time) mother-in-law and her bridal party put on this beautiful garden themed bridal shower. Taz (the Rottweiler) made a special appearance as well!
Then the day arrived. It was held at Hotel Laguna and it felt like the wedding of the year. I think I felt that way because I have had so many opportunities to get to know Vicky and Mike, as well as their families. It felt more personal to me. That mixed with the beauty of Laguna Beach (one of Southern California's most beautiful beaches)...this was going to be grand.
The ceremony was unforgettable. Mike set the mood as he danced his way down the aisle. Followed by what looked like Fashion Week in Paris, lol! Then the radiant Vicky arm in arm with her dad, walked down the aisle as she took everyone's breath away! Including Mike who could barley keep it together...and with tears emerging, had to "take a knee" to catch his breath.
Shooting beautiful people on a beautiful SoCal beach - can my job be any easier? Then the formals of Vicky and Mike - OMG! Love these!!!
Details were really elegant. They were not over the top at all. It was really masterfully done by the florist, because the best detail of all was the beach view...something that can't and should never be competed against.
The reception was fun, and engaging, and beautiful, and emotional.
And then the finale - nature in all it's beauty, and what California is most known for - the amazing sunsets!
Another aspect of their wedding they wanted photographic coverage of was the brunch the next day. This was meaningful because many of their guests who attended the brunch were from out of the country and it was hard to say when the next time they will all be together in the same room again.
